WHY DETOX IS SO IMPORTANT
Jan 14, 2017WHEN SHOULD A PERSON DETOX?
This time of year I'm sure you've noticed multiple ads and social media posts for all manner of cleanses and detoxes popping up just about everywhere. They are marketed as a great way to start fresh at the beginning of a new year and, quite frankly, more and more people are warming up to the idea. Good news really as detoxing and/or cleansing is really something everyone should consider doing ideally every three to four months, but least every six months. So why is detoxing on a regular basis so important?
Let's talk about vehicles for a moment. Most of us have (at least) one and rely heavily on it to get us where we need to go on a daily basis. We understand that in order to keep our daily driver reliable, it needs to have the oil changed and serviced regularly. Our bodies are not that much different. Think of your body as the vehicle that's going to get you through life. With no trade-ins or upgrade options available, taking care of your one and only "vehicle" as best you can is obviously in your best interest. Also just like cars, our bodies have filters that get clogged up and systems that need flushing out and this is where detoxes and cleanses come into play.
Is Your Daily Driver Reliable?
Imagine taking your car in to have the oil changed and the filter doesn't get replaced. As a matter of fact, it's actually been several oil changes since the filter was last changed. Honestly, you likely won't notice much of a difference in your car's performance the first or second time this happens. But over time, after passing through a dirty, clogged filter, less and less of that clean oil your engine needs to function optimally gets through and you will begin to notice.
Our bodies have filters too. Kidneys help remove waste and excess water from the blood, flushing it out as urine. The liver regulates how much sugar, protein and fat enter the blood stream and also helps remove toxins from the blood. The colon is the place where all the waste accumulates and is prepared for elimination. All vital functions we rely on every day to make sure we stay healthy. Did you know that most people today are carrying between five and ten pounds of waste around in their colons alone? Much like an overflowing garbage can, excess waste leaches toxins into the body creating more work for the liver and kidneys and making it more difficult to do their jobs a well as they could. And FYI, rarely are there any warning signs or indicators that any of these filtering systems may be compromised until it's too late.
